I grew up in a small German village where my father ran a computer store. I had my first own computer by seven and wrote my first (probably terrible) Visual Basic program at nine. Since then I've been hooked.

Music pulled me sideways for a while. I moved to Trossingen to study music design, but a year in I kept finding myself in front of a compiler more than an instrument. So I changed course and went to RWTH Aachen to study Computer Science.

I stumbled into DevOps by accident. I had applied for a frontend internship at Open-Xchange; the only opening was in release engineering, so I took it. The accident turned into a career.

I’ve been at DeepL since 2023 as a DevOps Engineer and a founding member of the Developer Experience team.

I’m slowly shaping what comes next. Something of my own, somewhere between Developer Experience, Platform Engineering, and AI. When there’s something worth showing, it’ll show up in the logbook first.

Outside of work I sail when the weather lets me, and I play whatever instrument happens to be closest.
